Why Consider Cascade

Why consider getting treatment for depression at Cascade

Depression is a disorder that can be treated with proper support and therapeutic methods, although many individuals do not seek the help they need. Depression symptoms only get worse over time and when an individual finally decides to get help, they may be at a point where they are completely unable to effectively manage their life. You may have become isolated from friends and family because you are no longer interested in activities you used to enjoy, or you may simply not feel like getting out of bed. When an individual becomes that low and hopeless, they may begin to contemplate suicide, believing that is the only way to end the emotional pain. This is not the answer, you can get through these hard times.

Cascade Behavioral Health Hospital near Seattle offers a broad range of treatment options that allow them to provide customized treatment program for each patient’s needs. The intimate care setting creates the opportunity for personal attention from the staff, where they are able to get to personally know the patient and their family. We focus on patient-centered care and believe that patients should learn more about their own health in order to become more active in their recovery.

Here at our treatment center for depression, we have leading healthcare experts that are genuinely compassionate to their patients. They will listen to each patient and are committed to treating you as the unique individual that you are. The innovative programs we have created are here to comfort, educate, and empower our patients and their caregivers. We take a holistic approach to every aspect of care, which also includes the environment. This is why at Cascade you will find homelike, welcoming spaces designed to support the healing process.

Treatment Philosophy

Treatment philosophy and benefits

Depression does not just affect an individual physically, but it also plays a toll on emotions and mental capacities. This is why at our treatment center we firmly believe in caring for the whole person, not just the physical symptoms. We believe that each patient has rights, responsibilities, and choices when it comes to their healthcare. Additionally, each patient has unique physical, emotional, intellectual, and cultural needs. This approach to treatment empowers our patients to be involved in their own mental health care and encourages healing partnerships between all involved in the process.

Depression Treatment

Treatment for depression at Cascade Behavioral Health Hospital

The treatment offered at Cascade optimizes care without causing too much disruption to our patients’ lives. Depression treatment services at Cascade Behavioral Health Hospital include treatment to stabilize a patient’s condition, educational lectures, individual therapy (which is offered only at the PHP level), and group therapy sessions.

Before treatment can begin, comprehensive assessments are conducted to determine which program is best suited for your needs. This assessment will determine if there are any substances in your system and if you are presenting with any co-occurring disorders.

If it has been established that you are chemically dependent on alcohol or another substance then you will begin treatment in our detoxification unit. Patients are closely monitored throughout the withdrawal process by a medical physician and a team of nurses. This process is done to gradually remove all drugs from your body so that you are able to fully participate in treatment.

Treatment for depression is most effective when combining medication management with therapeutic techniques. If your therapists believe that you would benefit from medication, you will likely be given mood stabilizers to help manage your symptoms of depression. Once better life skills and coping mechanisms have been learned, your medications may be reduced or completely eliminated. Other patients will receive long-term medication management for co-occurring disorders. All medication decisions and management will be determined by your treatment team.

Individual sessions, which are offered only at the PHP level, are one-on-one conversations with a counselor. Individual sessions in our PHP may focus on topics such as identifying triggers and developing effective coping strategies.

Group therapy is used to allow patients the time to work with others who are going through troubling times. Groups allow individuals to work together to learn more and practice life skills. Additionally, through group work individuals can build a stronger support network. Groups are held daily and cover a wide range of topics.

Every individual we treat is part of a larger community, family unit, and culture. This is why we welcome and encourage the involvement of friends and family as care partners. A care partner is an individual that the patient chooses to be involved in their healthcare experience. The support of a loved one is vital during time of illness. A care partner is there to offer love, support, and encouragement which makes a positive difference in the healing process. Many times the best thing a care partner can offer is a reassuring touch or encouraging smile.

Patients have more than just physical needs and so we complement traditional medical care with a variety of other types of therapy including:

  • Art therapy
  • Music

Continuing Care

Outpatient treatment for depression

After you have completed the inpatient treatment program you will be ready to move on to the next phase of your treatment. Before you leave our care, an aftercare plan will be developed and put into place in order to ensure continuity of care. At Cascade, we will do what we can to make the transition as smooth as possible so that you can continue to make progress toward your recovery goals.

Cascade offers an outpatient program flexible enough that it allows individuals to still meet their work and school obligations. Our outpatient program uses techniques such as group therapy, family therapy, and informational lectures. Patients are taught skills such as stress management, relapse prevention, and life skills. Some individuals will be ready to discharge home and will be given necessary referrals so that they can continue to get support from traditional outpatient therapy.
