Cascade Behavioral Health offers several outpatient options, including a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for adults age 18 and older whose lives have been impacted by a mental health concern. Our PHP is available at two locations (Bellevue location opened on November 29, 2021) and through telehealth.
What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?
On-Site and Telehealth PHP at Cascade Behavioral Health in Seattle, WA
Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a flexible outpatient option for adults age 18 and older of all genders who do not require inpatient care. Available at Cascade Behavioral Health, at Connections – Bellevue (now open), and via telehealth, our PHP serves adults who are struggling with various mental health conditions.
This highly structured outpatient program allows patients to reside at home with minimal disruption to their everyday lives and can also be an effective choice for those who need more intensive support than traditional outpatient services provide.
Our partial hospitalization program meets five days a week, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., and lunch is included for clients who attend on-site.
Program Overview
What treatment in Cascade’s mental health PHP looks like
The typical length of stay in our partial hospitalization program is two to three weeks. After completion of our PHP, patients are referred to outpatient services for continuing care. All treatment plans are based on each person’s unique strengths and challenges and crafted by our team of experienced, compassionate professionals. These professionals include psychiatrists, master’s-level therapists, and registered nurses.
The goal of our PHP is to stabilize patients, improve their functioning, and support their return to their regular outpatient provider for continued support. While in our PHP, each patient’s care may include:
- Psychiatrists meet with patients weekly for individualized care, which includes clinical assessments, diagnostics, and medication management.
- Master’s-level therapists teach specific coping skills that are relevant to the population receiving care.
- Clinicians lead groups that promote various mind-body awareness techniques, self-care, relaxation exercises, medication education, and nutrition.
Additionally, patients benefit from the following:
- Cognitive behavioral therapy
- Acceptance and commitment therapy
- Mindfulness and trauma-focused therapy
- Rational emotive therapy
- Expressive art therapies
- Psychoeducational groups, including those centered on dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and coping skills

“I entered the program at Cascade with trepidation and fear about what to expect. I came out of the program with a great deal of respect for the facility and its staff, as well as the tools I needed to cope with life.”
